I was just getting back into the swing of things this year. I hadn’t done much in about 2 years and this was the first year since 2014 that I’d done more then 1 show. It was an extremely odd year though and a major transitional one. First I got word that Gullifty’s was being sold and my home away from home, the place where this dream had started would be no more. So I had a I began a few other venues. Tubby’s was to be the new “Spot” for 717 Entertainment shows after a successful show w/ Flaw and the night I met Source things looked good to be doing the majority of shows there. I’d have Tourist Inn and The Depot down in york as backup venues. Then I woke up to the terrible news that Tubby’s had burnt down. Which selfishly had me questioning if I am meant to be doing this anymore. I felt absolutely awful for the owners and crew of Tubby’s and honestly still do. Then I began talking to Chris over at HMAC and one thing led to another and I started booking shows there. I’d end up calling this venue home for over 2 years as I booked both rooms and even some shows using both rooms the same night. The Morning Star Festival was really what I had always imagined it to be at this venue. bands upstairs, bands downstairs and acoustic acts in the kitchen as a middle ground between the two rooms.
