PATRICK EDWARD HAVERLY (PAT BRIGGS)
6/16/64 - 12/27/22
I was first introduced to Pat Briggs in 1996 when I first heard is band Psychotica. I fell in love instantly, it was glam rock but it had a 90’s edge. One song was all it took and I was hooked. I was #12 in thier fanclub. I still have the signed promo photo I received in the mail w/ my fan club membership package. This is a band that I became obsessed with. I immedietly got the 4 song EP and played it to death, eventually I got the debut record. I listened to that thing over 1,000 times, had every single word memorized, every single note on that cd was etched in my brain.
I was in heaven when I got to see them play live opening for Tool in Philadelphia. They were my first ever band I saw out of town. Up until then I had stuck to Hershey. I’ll never forget that night. I began reading about Pat, seeing his movie “All Over Me”. I watched it numerous times and read every single article I could find about him and his band. I knew everything. Then I went straight out and bought the second CD “Espina” the day it came out. Once again, every word, every note was memorized.
Eventually years passed, and the band became a little less in my CD Player. Over the years though i still listened to them every month or so. Then in 2019 I got word the band was releasing a new song and doing a few dates. I instantly found looked into and found out who the agent was and became discussions. In September of 2019 I brought Psychotica To Harrisburg. It was an absolute dream come true and one of my all time bucket list bands to book. Pat could not have been more gentle of a human being. I wasn’t able to speak w/ him to many times but we conversed enough for me to know he was a genuine sweet heart of a man. Its a night I’ll never forget and even though I barely knew him, he’s a human being I won’t forget. I’ll forever be distraught that I wasn’t able to see him again. Thank you for the memories Pat and RIP…
Muscians and singers die every day but this one really affected him. I spend the better part of 25 years listening to his voice and singing his words to the point I felt I knew him. This is my personal tribute to Pat Briggs…
