EMINESCENCE - PERFORMING EVANESCENCE AT THE LOLLAPALOOZA TRIBUTE
-Eminescence came onto that stage and performed evanescence so well that if you closed your eyes you would have thought it was them. The music was on point, the vocals were absolutely beautiful and unbelievable. I don’t think a single person in the room could take thier eyes off this performance.
RUINESS - PERFORMING HALESTORM AT THE LOLLAPALOOZA TRIBUTE
Ruiness started out as The Airwavez and tributed Paramore earlier in the year, however it was thier rendition of Halestorm that really caught the audience. The vocals were spot on and the whole package was just brilliant. The song selection was great as well even including “Here’s to Us” which is a song Halestorm doesn’t perform often anymore. Ruiness has found thier tribute niche w/ Halestorm.
Y2KIDS - PERFORMING LINKIN PARK AT THE FAMILY VALUES TRIBUTE
We started the year w/ A Family Values tribute and Y2Kids stole the show w/ thier damn near perfect version of Linkin Park. The Allison brothers compliment each others vocals as brothers should and damn do they hit those notes by Chester and Mike. For the first tribute show of the year people are still talking about this performance.
OLD SCHOOL HOLLYWOOD - PERFORMING SYSTEM OF A DOWN AT THE OZZFEST TRIBUTE
There is not a Visually perfect tribute in the area then this. Vocalist Trevor looks like Serj’s twin brother and can sing like him to. This is the second time we had this band perform and both times they steal every eye in the room. Mosh pits bigger than some original bands and just the exact feeling of being at a System show.
ULTRAVIOLENT - PERFORMING GREEN DAY AT THE WOODSTOCK TRIBUTE
I’m gonna be honest and say I don’t like Green Day these days but I am right back in the 90’s, 2000’s when Ultraviolent takes the stage and performs as them. I mean its perfection right down to opening w/ “F.O.D.” the song I always thought they should open with. I’m not entirely sure anyone can outperform these guys on a tribute stage which is insane because they are not a dedicated tribute band.
HATE GRENADE - PERFORMING LIMP BIZKIT AT THE WOODSTOCK TRIBUTE
They call themselves Hate Bizkit and they go all out. Guitarist Chuck paints himself like wes. Blitzing through a set that included many songs the band played at Woodstock 99. Hate Bizkit blasted through the Ministry cover of “Thieves” and did thier best to get the crowd moving up and down. They got the hits and some deep cuts as well. In true bizkit woodstock fashion there was even an unfortunate injury during the set. Everyone was fine. I still go on record as saying Hate Grenade does the best Limp Bizkit performance around.
JAGGED LITTLE THRILL - PERFORMING ALANIS MORISSETTE AT THE WOODSTOCK TRIBUTE
Performing at an odd time of like 6:00PM Jagged Little Thrill came on and dominated that stage. They did not miss a beat, note or anything. The setlist was perfect as well. They had stage presence and made 50 minutes seem like 10 as even though I had heard 12 or so songs it felt like 3 and I just wanted to see 15 more.
KNOW YOUR ENEMY - PERFORMING RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE AT THE WOODSTOCK TRIBUTE
There’s not a better Rage tribute and I’ve seen a few. These guys come out of the gate and if you aren’t moving your aren’t breathing. There is a power coming off that stage when they play. Both times I’ve seen them they brought the house down, tore the roof off and any other corny description you can think of because they are true to a fault.
